Palazzo kitchen

The starting point for this project was the distinctive classical architecture of the space. Ornate ceiling mouldings, generous ceiling height and an abundance of natural light provided the perfect setting for a kitchen designed to feel refined and timeless, yet unmistakably contemporary in its functionality. Soft off-white framed cabinetry creates a calm and elegant foundation, contrasted by the rich, natural character of dark walnut. This carefully considered combination continues throughout the interior: walnut defines the central section of the upper cabinetry, wraps the kitchen island and reappears in the accompanying furniture, creating a strong visual connection across the entire space. Light marble-effect surfaces introduce another layer of sophistication. The expressive veining of the worktops and backsplash brings movement to the composition while establishing a seamless dialogue with the polished floor. Warm metallic accents — seen in the handles, tap, lighting and subtle detailing of the island — act almost like jewellery within the restrained palette, adding warmth without overwhelming the architecture. At the heart of the kitchen, the generously proportioned island serves both as a functional workspace and as a natural gathering point. Its softly rounded details balance the architectural geometry of the cabinetry, while the integrated seating transforms it into an inviting setting for everyday moments, conversation and entertaining. Proportion and continuity played an essential role throughout the design. The cabinetry extends almost to ceiling height, making full use of the room’s generous scale, while its classical proportions and framed detailing establish a natural relationship with the original architectural features. Modern kitchen technology, meanwhile, remains deliberately understated, allowing the materials, craftsmanship and overall harmony of the interior to take centre stage. The result is a kitchen where classical elegance and contemporary functionality exist in effortless balance. Timeless forms, carefully selected materials and meticulously considered details come together to create more than a functional space — they create a defining part of the home.
